HIPAA-compliant, Web-based PACS solution helps hospital streamline workflow, patient services
Southfield, Mich. — To equip rural health providers with the latest medical imaging technology, FreedomPACS™ recently awarded a complete Web-based medical PACS (picture archiving communication system) to Massac Memorial Hospital, Metropolis, Ill. The $45,000 gift will help the 25-bed general medical and surgical hospital improve workflow and enhance patient care, according to Chelle Keplinger, chief financial officer. 
“We now have the ability to give our cardiologist immediate access to medical images and studies stored on a server to view and compare to past images,” said Keplinger. “We have never had this ability before and it will benefit our patients.”
The HIPAA-compliant system donated by FreedomPACS includes the company’s three signature products:
- Web or server-based PACS software – offering enterprise-wide viewing, storage and instant access to digital medical images.
- FreedomPACS Cloud – a highly secure, cost-effective offsite image storage solution
- ImageShare Diagnostic Viewer – a secure cross-platform and license-free service that enables outside facilities and physicians to access necessary patient images quickly and efficiently
The gift to the Metroplis-Ill. based hospital represents FreedomPACS’ ongoing commitment to rural healthcare. The medical imaging services provider is an exhibitor at both the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA) annual conventions. At this year’s IRHA event, FreedomPACS sponsored the $45,000 PACS Solution Drawing. Massac Memorial Hospital is the recipient of the prize.
